Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine combines R&B, jazz and soul in his distinctive style. From Broadway to European music festivals and clubs the singer has done work across the globe. Sunshine's given name is Denise White. Even though she lives in Atlanta now, Sunshine is originally from Chester Pennsylvania. In Chester Pennsylvania she first began her journey as a musician singing and playing at the local church. She attended Spellman College and began to study the R&B styles of Atlanta. In 2005, she was the keyboardist in Tyler Perry's stage show Meet the Browns. In 2007 Grammy and Tony award-winning vocalist Jennifer Holliday sought her out to be the director of choral in the production staged by Dreamgirls during the National Black Arts Festival in Atlanta. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
